Treaty

Use

Adults and older children

  • Treatment of sexually transmitted diseases due to Chlamydia trachomatis: 1 g orally in a single dose
  • Prophylactic treatment of MAC infections in patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV): a dose of 1.2 g per week

In all other indications, the total dose is 1.5 g, to be spread over 3 or 5 days

3-day regimen: 500 mg daily for 3 days

5-day regimen: 500 mg the first day, 250 mg the following 4 days

Children> 45 kg

3-day regimen: 10 mg / kg per day for 3 days

5-day regimen: 10 mg / kg the first day, 5 mg / kg per day the following 4 days

Administration mode

Administered as a single dose per day

Tablets can be taken with food

Previous food intake may improve the gastrointestinal side effects of azithromycin

Composition

The active substance is azithromycin (as azithromycin monohydrate) corresponding respectively to 500 mg per film-coated tablet.

The other ingredients (excipients) are: core: microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized starch, sodium starch glycolate, anhydrous colloidal silica, sodium lauryl sulfate, magnesium stearate; film coating: Opadry AMB OY-B-28920 (polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide (E 171), talc, soy lecithin, xanthan gum.
