Therapeutic indications

Strepsils lozenges are particularly suitable for the local symptomatic treatment of buccopharyngeal inflammatory conditions, in particular: tonsillitis, inflammation of the tonsils, larynx and oral mucosa.

Strepsils Menthol also relieves symptomatic manifestations of nasal congestion and improves breathing.

QUALITITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION

Strepsils Sugar Free Strawberry, Strepsils Sugar Free Lemon and Strepsils Honey & Lemon contain 1.2 mg of dichlorobenzyl alcohol and 0.6 mg of amylmetacresol per tablet.

Strepsils Vit C Orange contains 1.2 mg of dichlorobenzyl alcohol per tablet, 0.6 mg of amylmetacresol, 33.5 mg of ascorbic acid and 74.9 mg of sodium ascorbate (= 100 mg of vitamin C).

Strepsils Menthol contains 1.2 mg of dichlorobenzyl alcohol per tablet, 0.6 mg of amylmetacresol and 8 mg of menthol.

Pellet.

Dosage and method of administration

Strepsils Without Strawberry Sugar, Strepsils Without Sugar Lemon, Strepsils Honey & Lemon and Strepsils Vit C Orange.

Adults and children over 15 years of age.

Let a lozenge slowly melt in the mouth every 2 to 3 hours.

Take a maximum of 6 lozenges per day.

Children from 5 to 7 years old: 1 tablet 3 times a day.

8 to 15 years: 1 lozenge 4 x per day.

Strepsils Menthol

Adults and children over 15 years of age.

Let a lozenge slowly melt in the mouth every 2 to 3 hours.

Take a maximum of 6 lozenges per day.

Children from 6 to 7 years old: 1 tablet 3 x per day.

8 to 15 years: 1 lozenge 4 x per day.

Sore throat may be an indication of another serious condition, therefore it is advisable not to use the lozenges for more than 3 to 4 days.

Contraindications

Do not use in children under 5 years of age.

An allergy to one or more components of Strepsils.

Menthol Strepsils:

Do not use in children under 6 years of age.

Menthol can give rise to reflex apnea or laryngospasm.

Special warnings and special precautions for use

Sugar Free Strepsils (Strawberry, Lemon) contain maltitol. This medication is contraindicated in patients with fructose intolerance (rare hereditary disease).

Sugar Free Strepsils (Strawberry, Lemon) can be used by diabetics. The other Strepsils lozenges contain sugar.

Pregnancy and breast feeding

No known teratogenic effect in animals, even at doses 50 times higher than the usual doses in humans.

Side effects

There have been a few cases of sore tongue.

Very rarely, an allergic reaction.

Strepsils Menthol: menthol can cause hives and erythema.

Effects on ability to drive and use machines.

Considering the product characteristics, Strepsils is unlikely to affect the ability to drive and use machines

Overdose

Given the dosage form, the low content of active ingredients and the safety of these, it is practically excluded that problems occur. It should nevertheless be taken into account that in children an acute overdose of menthol can lead to gastrointestinal problems, ataxia, stupor, convulsions and sometimes blood dyscrasia.

List of excipients

Strepsils Sugar Free Strawberry: strawberry flavor, saccharin sodium, tartaric acid, 4R culvert (E124), liquid maltitol and isomalte.

Lemon Sugar Free Strepsils: Lemon flavor, quinoline yellow, tartaric acid, sodium saccharin, liquid maltitol and isomalte.

Honey & Lemon Strepsils: deterpenated lemon oil, honey, peppermint oil, tartaric acid, sucrose and liquid glucose.

Strepsils Vit C Orange: Blood orange aroma, levorotatory menthol, propylene glycol, tartaric acid, orange-yellow S (E110), 4R culvert (E124), sucrose and liquid glucose.

Strepsils Menthol: eucalyptus oil, tartaric acid, indigo carmine (E132), sucrose and liquid glucose.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction

There is no interaction between Strepsils and antibiotics which allows an associated treatment.

Incompatibilities

So far no case of incompatibilities has been found.
